The Year in Lincoln

By: Mr. Wilson on December 31, 2008
Every blog needs a year-end wrap-up post. Here's mine. What did you think about the year that was 2008?

It’s a better year having your blog here. Keep up the great work!

That goes for Matt O’s blog at the LJS, too. Both are daily must-reads for me.

I’m still mourning the loss of P.O. Pears (which closed its doors in March ‘08).  Update - I got a postcard from the Capital Jazz Society promoting their new Monday Night Big Band location in the Haymarket Brewsky’s basement.

I consider myself an optimist, but I’ll side with Roger Larson on this one.  Goodbye & Good Riddance!

For kicks and giggles, I went and read the 2007 ‘year in review’.  There was a lot of stuff in there that I thought happened this.  I must be getting old if years are blurring together. First it was weeks, then months, and I guess now years.  Yikes.

I am glad I never have to write checks so the whole writing in the wrong year curse does not get me.

I only read every post of two blogs: Tom Cassidy’s blog, and this one. Gotta love the often humorous inside scoup… the comments are fun too. Keep it up… here’s to a new year!

2008 was quite a year in so many ways… While the economy was heading south for the rest of the country, I decided to head West.  Left Lincoln after calling it home for the last four years, came to California.  Started a small welder shop with my Uncle.  It has been a dream of mine for awhile, so I feel it was a good year.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Lincoln.  I just had to take the opportunity while it was there for the taking.
