Sure, the rumor mill says that Blue Orchid is going to open a second location on the south side of town. That's great and all.
But.
Foxspit stopped by to let us know that Thai House, a favorite of many local Thai fans, is closing on June 2. The neighboring grocery will expand to fill its space. As if I didn't already feel bad enough that I've never been there. Now it appears my first visit -- if I get there at all -- will be my last.
Drat.

See what your friends and neighbors have to say about this.
My hubby and I had better get there soon then. Thai House was one of the first places we dined at when we moved to Lincoln 18 years ago and has been a favorite since. We try to make it there for lunch every few months.
Although its always sad to see any restaurant or business fail, I can’t say I personally am surprised at all to see them go (sorry Thai House fans). There was incredible potential at this location, being on the same lease as a very popular and well run Asian/Thai grocery, in a neighborhood with a large Asian population, relatively close to UNL, etc.
A decent Thai place in the area is the Lao-Thai Restaurant in South Omaha. Worth checking out.
You better go Thai one on before they close!
I’ll probably eat so much you’ll have to curry me out of there.
This is why we need to add a Like button around here.
For chicken strip lovers, Raising Canes is planning to open a south location in Lincoln. This would complement their current location at 48th and R.
I heard the new location might be near 16th and Pine Lake, but I couldn’t get confirmation on that.
That location wouldn’t surprise me. Construction is well underway on the largest building in that development, and ZSA’s site lists a restaurant pad available at 16th & Pine Lake: http://tinyurl.com/cshyudl. Raising Cane’s locating there would really be a boon for that development, though, I’ve never tried Raising Cane’s—the parking lot has always been too full.
