Will Drive For Fuel

As part of my day job I work with folks from around the country (and the world). A bunch of folks I work with nearly every day -- but whom I have never met -- are heading to SXSW this March, and I would like to get down there to visit them. But I figure, why travel alone? If folks from around here are going we may as well carpool. Are any of you planning to hit SXSW Interactive? If so, and if you haven't made travel plans yet, let's talk. Have any of you been to SXSW before? What should a guy expect down there?

It’s a very festive atmosphere. I went once while at A&M;and had a good time listening to completely random music that you probably won’t hear anywhere else unless you make an active attempt.

The SXSW Interactive should be pretty cool since Austin is(was) considered the Silicon Valley of the south.

As always, Austin is a fun town.

I would expect music and drinking. Plenty of food, and drinking. I’d expect late nights, and drinking. I’d expect to see a lot of cowboy hats, and drinking. Oh yeah, and there may be some drinking.

Mr. Wilson,
If you have any interest in hitting up the music side, Stereogum.com usually posts (legal) mp3s from many artists that will be playing the festival in the weeks preceding. That way you can get a sense of who many of these relative unknowns are and plan your show-hopping accordingly.

The people over at austinist.com are usually a good source for SXSW information.

I would really, really like to go to SXSW but I don’t think I’ll be able to afford it this year. :(

Just ask Congress for help. They’re giving everybody else cash this year.

Hmmm…. now there’s and idea 😊
