Where in Lincoln 200 Winners

By: Mr. Wilson on September 5, 2012
Thank you so much to all of the participants in the 200th edition of Where In Lincoln! I was very impressed with both the number of entries and the speed at which you folks hopped in with answers. (We had two entries within the first three minutes, and several more just a few minutes later.) Now it's time to announce the winners: 1. Rocket Fizz, 70th and A -- Derek J. Augustine

Derek recognized these cows from Rocket Fizz's "Great Wall of Soda". Enjoy your $10 gift certificate, Derek!

2. NuVibe, 14th and P -- Angela Bohling

Angela had no troubles recognizing the warm atmosphere of NuVibe's upstairs room. Enjoy your $10 worth of coffee and smoothies, Angela!

3. Meadowlark Coffee, 16th and South -- Angela Bohling

Ms. Bohling knows her coffee joints! This photo didn't fool many people; an impressive ten respondents got this one right before I turned off the question. Angela was the speediest.

4. UNL Dairy Store, East Campus -- Nikkidemas

10/11's own Nikkidemas figured out this sneaky shot. As a reward, she gets to take home $10 worth of delicious ice cream.

5. Frank & Simon's, Capitol Beach & West O -- Brock Minert

In contrast with #3, this one threw the most people off. Guesses included High Society Cheesecake, Tina's, Virginia's, and several others. Fortunately Brock recognized the photo and he gets to claim the $10 gift certificate.

6. Beacon Hills, 27th and Folkways -- Brian Fitzgerald

Beacon Hills is easy to miss as you drive up North 27th, but Brian wasn't about to let this one get away. Good work, Brian, for hooking this $10 gift certificate!

7. Greta's Gourmet, 48th and Highway 2 -- Scott T.

I thought this photo was pretty devious, but apparently it wasn't tough enough. Scott T. recognized these shelves and baskets, and as a reward he wins a $10 gift certificate to Greta's.

8. The Grain Bin, 48th and Highway 2 -- Angela Bohling

That's right, Angela's back! She could no doubt smell the delicious aroma of Grain Bin's bread as she recognized this photo.

9. Round-Abouts Restaurant, 70th and A -- Ryan Minert

Ryan had no troubles identifying these tables and chairs as belonging to the charming and unique Round-Abouts restaurant. Have a round (or 2 or 3) on us, Ryan!

10. Grandmother's, 70th and A -- Nikkidemas

I thought this one might be tough, but Nikkidemas had no troubles identifying Grandmother's glass brick windows.

I will be contacting all of the winners this morning. Or you can beat me to the punch by sending your mailing address to brent at lincolnite etc.
Good work all around, folks. But I have to make a special shoutout to Ms. Angela Bohling. She knew a whopping SEVEN correct answers. Of course, the rules limit her to 3 prizes, but wow. That's some serious Lincoln knowledge. A round of applause for Angela! And kudos to Mr. T who has kept Where In Lincoln going for so long. Thanks, Mr. T! I hope all of you enjoyed playing. We'll be back soon with more games.

See what your neighbors have to say about this.

Thanks for the work (and cash!) put into this.  It was a lot of fun!

Great stuff. Kudos all around. I should have recognized Roundabouts from all the empty seats. Oops, did I type that out loud?

Yeah, it was probably not a nice thing to say. My apologies. I love small businesses and the people who start them. I have no ill will, and wish them well.

Your penance is going to Round-Abouts with me for lunch one of these days.

September 5, 2012 at 9:01PM

Thanks. We’re working hard over here…

September 6, 2012 at 3:54PM

Mr. Wilson will likely ban me for this, but I’ve only been inside 1 of the 10 places (and it’s probably been at least a decade ago), but I have consumed goods from 2 others.

Increase the penance!!

In fairness, I have only lived here since 1985. I am sure I will get around to it soon.

I think this means that Fletch has to buy lunch for everyone at Round-Abouts, and leave a “size-able” tip as well.

Did you ... did you just reply to yourself and tell yourself that you had a great idea?

Pot pies give me horrible flashbacks.

It was a delightful surprise to be included in this contest. Thank you for thinking of Frank & Simon’s; we love your blog and look forward to serving Brock!
