The City Council has said yes to the plan for the half-block bounded by 13th, 14th, and Q Streets.
The developers have purchased the building that currently houses Valentino's, Quizno's, and Chipotle, which they plan to demolish.
Could this thing actually happen?

Chipotle closing? Won’t hell freeze over? Where else will our 5 star recruits go to be initiated by the famous “Double burrito”?
What’s the double burrito?
I hate seeing old buildings in Lincoln being torn down (the Archer project will tear down a neat apartment that, I’ve heard, is in disrepair).
Sure seems like there’d be a way to save the Vals/Coldstone building. Maybe Ed Zimmer can get them straightened away.
The Acher project won’t tear down anything—it involves nothing more than tearing up a parking lot. Are you thinking about the Sidles project?
I don’t know when it started. I just remember a video of Suh his sophomore year taking one of the new recruits to Chipotle. They make a burrito for the football players that’s twice the normal size, and they’re supposed to eat it. Suh did!
All three of those businesses could easily go somewhere else downtown. I can think of three vacant retail bays on O St. that they can all go in (old Roost, old Billy Brown’s and old Kuhl’s). Personally I think there are too many vacant store fronts on O St. This is Lincoln’s most famous street and I think it needs to be marketed better.
Ah! You may be right Mr. Wilson. I was thinking of the project catty-corner from the Cornhusker.
Plenty of spots to be had, but just ask Wasabi about the trials and tribulations of relocating. I’m sure it comes with its own set of difficulties. Hope they can all make a go of it.
Chipotle should move to the Nebraska Union in the space vacated by Sbarrro. They would clean up there.
Vals better relocate downtown. I don’t know what I’d do on Tuesdays without my bacon cheeseburger pizza.
I certainly won’t miss Chipotle, it has no place downtown—it’s unoriginal and you can find one or two or ten in about every capital or major city in the U.S. If people need to get their “processed” burrito fix, they can travel to Southpointe. OSO is where it’s at; and you get more for your money; and just about everything is made at OSO from scratch, not processed & packaged! (but to each his own)
