Think It’ll Help?

Keep it clean. Avoid language that is obscene, vulgar, lewd or sexually-oriented. If you can't control yourself, don't post it. Don't threaten to hurt or kill anyone. Be truthful. Don't lie about anyone or anything. Be nice. No racism, sexism or any other sort of -ism that degrades another person. PLEASE TURN OFF YOUR CAPS LOCK, and forgive people their spelling errors. Let us know if it's getting out of hand. Please use the "Report Abuse" button on offensive comments. Share what you know, ask about what you don't. Give us your eyewitness accounts, background, observations and history. What more do you want to know about the story? Stay focused, and ask questions. Keep on the story's topic. And remember - don't feed the trolls. How sad is it that they have to post an elementary school-style list like that? I suppose it's even sadder that it probably won't help.

I think those guidelines have been there for quite awhile. And by the way, their commenting feature still sucks big time. It takes forever to load, and it keeps other things on the page from loading quickly. I can’t believe they can’t get something better.
No joke. Even the comment counter takes ages to load. When “SELECT COUNT(*) FROM Comments WHERE ArticleID=12345” takes 30 seconds, you’ve got some performance issues to tackle.
This quote from Merlin Mann sums up my opinion on the LJS comment section.
It’d be cynical to call web comments the web’s Porta-Potty; especially since most toilets get professionally cleaned.
I think Dave K is JodyP
I hate the web commenting on the LJS page. I’ve had on several occasions from different computers, an issue where after I type up a lengthy comment and hit post, it crashes. I get an error, and everything i’ve typed is gone. fix it, LJS.
Why do they have a “report abuse” function? I thought the commenting was edited by the LJS before it appears?
Regardless, you know that whoever has to monitor the alleged abuse will now have even more work to do.
If you are registered your comments appear in a few minutes. I do not think they have to be approved.
I have reported myself even. I listed too much info on a story where the LJS did not want to release that info.
LOL ... it isn’t. My LJS web commenting goes in spurts, and I’m not hard to find on there. 😊
I was kidding. You at least make sense and do not resort to dumb names for folks.
And Mr. W does not really have rules besides his filters.
