I have noticed that the annoyingly unforgettable Nebraska Diamond commercials are back on the radio. I hadn't heard any for a while, but now they're back with a vengeance. I have to give them credit for pounding their name into Lincolnites' skulls, but dang those commercials are annoying. And here I am giving them free advertising.
I was a customer at Nebraska Diamond once. It's definitely not your typical ring-buying experience. It wasn't for me, but I can see why some guys (or couples) would prefer it. (For the record, I ended up buying at Sartor Hamann.)

See what your friends and neighbors have to say about this.
Nebraska Diamond has good stuff, but I wouldn’t recommend them because of their service. My wife’s ring had a loose diamond (not the main one) and they have had it over a month to get it fixed. They said it was fixed once, but there was no difference; they didn’t do anything.
I’ve been hearing ads for something called the “Erectile Disfunction Hotline”. That alone doesn’t bother me, but the fact that they use the Peanuts theme music in the background just seems completely wrong to me. Completely.
We did ND for the wifes ring, unique way of doing it. The commercials are pretty lame, but the worst is Schaefers.
Ron Rammero I am calling you out. Drop the twice a year for the last decade xmas jingle.
Wrap it up, take it home, put it under the tree, electronically…..
The salesmen at ND are about as subtle as a rodeo clown holding up First National. I’d rather be submerged in a tank of starving sharks than go back there. Sartor Hamann all the way!
Just be glad we don’t live in a market where Tom Shane of Shane Company Jewelers has a store. Those are the most annoying ever.
We prefer the small store feel of Elder’s Jewelers.
Even though my travels haven’t taken me to *every* larger city/metro area in the United States, I’ve yet to go anywhere that has as high percentage of engagement ring radio ads as Lincoln does.
The part of me that’s bitter and cynical about being single considers the ring ads the worst aspect of Lincoln radio (for comparison, Clear Channel is a distant #2). 😉
I consider Sartor Hamann’s badly acted ads to be the worst of the bunch.
Sartor Hamann’s mocked a friend’s diamond and how small it was when she went in there to do some shopping. Needless to say she won’t be back and, as a result, we won’t go there either.
I agree with Moses and but I like Fred Wilson at 13th and O streets.
This thread has been pretty helpful. I asked about jewelery stores on my site and starcityscene and have gotten some good ideas.
I am going to be purchasing some jewelery friday. One good suggestion was antique and pawn stores to get something a little more unique and possibly cheaper.
@ Moses - Thanks a lot. Not I have Tom Shane’s voice stuck in my head. haven’t heard a Shane Company commercial since I moved to Lincoln 2 years ago and now all i hear is
“Hi. I’m Tom Shane, of the Shane Company. I send buyers to…”
Thanks. Thanks a lot.
😉
Sorry CP. I just moved back to Lincoln from 8 years of Tom Shane in Portland.
My husband is a jeweler at Sartor Hamann. Weirdly enough, I don’t wear jewelry- though he’s made me some great stuff. I’m very anti-diamond and the stupid two month’s salary “rule” for engagement rings.
Jewelry store ads are all terrible! All of them make me change the station immediately.
well we tried pawn shops and downtown jewlers. Ended up going to the mall. Much more selection in our price range.
Got her an awesome bracelet fiolled with tanzenite on the cheap.
Tanzanite is pretty. 😊
It is the gem in her wedding ring as well.
