The Sound of Silence

- The Missus and I are in the midst of a massive research campaign. We've been presented with a life-changing opportunity. Right now we can't bring ourselves to say yes, nor can we bring ourselves to say no. It's heart-wrenching.
- District soccer action was this week. State pairings haven't been announced yet. Keep an eye here for that info, which should be available soon. I have received and accepted an invitation to referee at the State Tournament. Be sure to say hi if you see me.
- Nebraska's foster care system needs help.
- Speaking of foster care, The Missus and I are next in line for our home study. If, that is, the Nebraska State Patrol learns to accept that I have no finger prints. My mom dug up some fingerprints from 1983 and 1987 to back up my insistence that I didn't recently remove my prints to cover up some sort of sordid criminal past.
- Did you hear that gigantic boom at 2:15 this morning? That was one of the biggest thunderclaps I've ever heard.
- Three. Three dollar. Three dollar gasoline.

See what your friends and neighbors have to say about this.
Here’s to hoping you find peace with whatever your decision is regarding your life-changing opportunity!
That foster care story breaks my heart. Are there just not enough foster parents? Do foster parents request babies (and is such a thing even possible?) So sad. :(
I have a feeling that gas will be well over $3.50 to almost $4/gal by next Friday. With the Dow down nearly 1,000 points yesterday, and the unrest in Greece (not to mention the UK), and the lovely little F-up BP made in the Gulf (which they had no EPA plan in place for such a catastrophe) ... yeah, my roadtrip to Southern Oklahoma for my season opening XTERRA triathlon is going to be an expensive journey. YIKES!
The bump in gas has nothing to do with BP’s oil rig-that oil wasn’t even in the futures queue for another few months. The stock market screwed up because of human/computer error, not trade variance or ‘the markets’.
Wilson,
Can you not go down to 10th street and just get another card done? I had to when I worked for NE lottery since I had no prints on file for my background check. I think it was about 11.00.
duly noted.
That’s what they want me to do. (Except they aren’t on 10th Street any more. They’re up by the airport.) Thing is, I already did it once—and multiple times per finger while I was there—so what’s the point? I’m going to go do it, but only because I don’t have a choice. They’re still just going to wind up with 10 blurs when all is said and done.
My biggest fear is that they will either (a) force me to repeat this process a few dozen times, or (b) use this as a lame excuse to keep us out of the foster care system.
The price of crude oil has gotten clobbered since Monday thanks to the Greek implosion. So I was also curious why gas prices in Lincoln have spiked. Must be a lag or a reflection of low regional inventory.
I agree, I’ve been telling people all day that the lightning/thunder at 2:15am was the loudest I have ever heard in my life!
That thunder clap woke me out of a deep sleep. Everyone I have talked to, all over town, swears it was right overhead! I’ve not heard one that loud in a long time, and I wonder just what it was that caused it. The windows shook for quite some time afterward.
