If baseball in D.C. is such a great idea, why won't MLB pay for it?

I can’t register, so I haven’t read the article, but having lived in Baltimore and had a subscription to the Baltimore Sun, I’d be careful with what you read in that hunk of junk (think glorified college paper).

In addition, you MUST realize, that the Baltimore Orioles (and those economists in Baltimore) are completely against a ball club in D.C. since they are fearful it will detract from the Orioles attendance, and thus people spending money in the hell hole that is B-more.

I happen to believe it will only affect weekend games, but the owner seems to think a family from the D.C. area can get off work at 5pm, have enough time to drive up I-95 during rush hour up to Baltimore (The DC/Balto metro area have the second worst congestion in the US-behind Southern California), and make it in their seats by a 7pm game time. (simply put…no chance in hell could that happen).

As for baseball in D.C., I don
