Herb Friedman, a common presence on local television and radio commercials, has his say about the Time Warner mess in today's Journal Star. It's not a bad piece, but I came away feeling like the guy is a little dirty. Friedman proposes that "this is the stuff class actions are made of, and some customers might want to explore that option with counsel." That's probably true, but it seems to me it's a little unethical of Mr. Friedman not to mention his own interest in a class action lawsuit. Mr. Friedman criticizes Time Warner for not being upfront about Navigator; shouldn't he also be upfront about himself?

I agree. The troubling thing with this board is that most of them are clueless on this topic and some don’t even have cable. As for TWC, I ripped them early on, and then I gave them some slight praise, but I have to say the improvements are still not where they should be. It’s been nearly 90 days since my first flurry of action by them, and I thought there’d be little trouble by now, but lately my DVR just skips pre-set shows to record, for no apparent reason. That’s a new issue for me, and I am *thisclose* to scrapping the whole thing and getting a dish. I feel bad for the folks that have to deal with the mess, but in the long-run, TWC gets what they deserve.
The only thing a class action lawsuit does is fill lawyers pockets with money.
Maybe if Herb thinks it’s a good idea, he’d take on the case pro bono.
