As far as working together (or at least giving the impression of such) they did an alright job. Given the huge task they had of balancing that budget, I think they did ok.

I would have liked to see them go through with the cuts to LAAA. Because now it looks like you get what you want if you get the LJS to do a story on you saying you’re going to die if you don’t get funding.  Also, now the LJS editorial board thinks that it works when they pose as doctors and say public funding is needed to allow old people to live longer.

There are a couple other annoyances in the budget but I’m willing to look past those if it prevents taxes from being raised.

Not to sound like I’m down on the elderly, but everyone keeps saying they want Lincoln to grow, and the way we’ll grow is not by attracting old people but younger ones with families. Are those people looking for services for the elderly? Probably not. They want jobs and housing and roads and parks and schools and sports activities for their young.

I’m very glad to see the restoration
of some of LAAA’s budget. I can
report from first hand experience
that these agencies do a tremendous
job…
