Which is the best non-emergency health clinic in Lincoln? For that matter, how many are there in Lincoln? I'm aware of two.
The only clinic I've been to is Linc Care [WARNING: obnoxious music]. For the most part they've gotten the job done for me. Wait times have ranged from a few minutes to probably 30 minutes or so. I went to Linc Care twice for heat-related issues. The first time they got me fixed up; the second time I was close enough to heat stroke that the doctor sent me to the emergency room instead. (That was a rough night.) I fortunately haven't been back to Linc Care in a couple years.
The Missus has been utilizing Urgent Care Clinic of Lincoln [WARNING: obnoxious music and obnoxious narration] for the past couple years. UCC seems to be a higher-tech operation than Linc Care, and The Missus has nothing but praise for it so far. I haven't personally been there; The Missus went there a couple days ago for a quick ear / sinus infection diagnosis.
Which is your favorite non-emergency clinic in Lincoln? Are there others I've missed that Lincolnites should know about?

I was very impressed with urgent care. Free bottled water and a really cool coffee maker, assistants with netbooks, dual screen computer stations for showing Xrays, wireless, and the emergency drug box (still very curious what was in there). Was a very classy, sophisticated, and comfortable environment.

Chalk me up for liking the Urgent Care Clinic at 72nd and Pioneers. I’ve personally used it three times, and we’ve taken each kid there at least once, in the past 2-3 years. Much better experience than the trip we once made to LincCare.
The thing I found interesting is that last year, I took a pretty big fall (and was convinced that my foot or ankle was broken or shattered) and went to UCC for x-rays ASAP. They took 3-4 painful x-rays. There was no break, but a very severe sprain - I got a wrap and some advice and went home. I can’t recall what the bill was, but it seemed reasonable. Well below $200.
Fast forward to a couple months ago. My 3-year old was noticably limping and complained for days of foot pain. We took him to the pediatrician, who also did x-rays. Again, nothing turned up. The bill from the regular pediatrician’s office was way higher than the urgent care bill.
I’d recommend them highly and use them again.
I’ve been to both and would echo beerorkid’s sentiments about Urgent Care. I was impressed because of the well used technology, and that they seemed to be courting my business through making it a more comfortable experience. In addition, I’ve been there 4 times and never waited more than 5 minutes to be seen, which may be a fluke, I don’t know.
I have also thought about the fact that when I go see my physician for anything, I end up with significantly more oput of pocket expense (and hassle) for less “urgent” things than I go to Urgent Care for. I have wondered aloud if the Urgent Care model is an example of the future of medicine. If so, I’m happy with it. I’ve actually chosen to go to Urgent Care instead of my physician the past 3 times I needed to see someone. I wonder if they are noticing this at Dr’s offices around town?
I think in many ways it parallels my banking experience. 99% or more of my interactions are perfectly suited for a nameless faceless ATM (Urgent Care). However, I appreciate knowing that I am assosciated with a bank branch (physiscian) for the instances when I need to sort out something serious.
