That’s a Lot of Cabbage and Onions

Did you know there are 16 Runza locations in Lincoln? I had no idea there are that many. Who knew Ov'n St'f'd Sandwiches -- or whatever excessively-punctuated name they're calling runzas these days -- were so popular?

They may have fallen out of favor with some people but I still love their food.

I saw a new Runza building going up in St. Paul, Neb., this weekend. Runza is pretty aggressive with it’s restaurant locations.

I like their food too, Gene.

They are also the first place that gave me a senior citizen discount without asking if I qualify….bless their little pea pickin hearts.

When I moved here two years ago, everyone told me to try a Runza.  Haven’t been back since.  Must be an acquired taste.

I do hear that the burgers are decent, and they open Friday in the Union, so they may get another chance.

Where are they opening in the Union? Who are they replacing?

I’ve never acquired it. I like the Italian Runza, but to me, it’s one of the most overrated Lincoln fascinations. The smell of a regular Runza makes me want to hurl. Back in the 80’s, when one could still smoke at Memorial Stadium, I would have preferred to sit next to a lit cigarette than someone eating a Runza. Ugh. Burgers - way overrated. Onion rings - good, but not the bee’s knees (like Mr. W. is). 16 seems to me like oversaturation. Hopefully, there will not soon be 16 Braedas, each sitting next door to a Runza.

Thanks. That is good news!
