Have you ever wanted to jump out of a plane? Now's as good a time as any. This weekend you can take the leap, with a portion of your fee going to support the American Cancer Society. The Lincoln Sport Parachuting Club is putting on the event. If you jump this weekend, you'll experience one minute of freefall -- roughly equivalent to "forever" or "not long enough", depending on your feelings about these things.
I have never gone skydiving. It's on my list. I'm not a big fan of heights, but I am a big fan of adrenaline. Even though I dread the thought of jumping from the plane, I love the thought of frefalling for a minute.
Is anybody jumping this weekend? Have you gone skydiving before?

See what your friends and neighbors have to say about this.
Skydiving is an absolute blast. I always tell people that there is no reason NOT to go if you have a fear of heights. You really can’t tell how high you are because it is just you and the airplane.
Free fall is of course exciting and incredible, but the ride down under canopy is one of the most peaceful, easy feelings in the world. You can see the beautiful Nebraska (and Iowa) landscape for miles and miles. I would highly recommend that everyone goes skydiving at least once in their life. Just be careful if you don’t want to get addicted to it, it’s easy to do.
I did this event years back and did the tandem jump. It was a blast. That minute of freefall went really fast.
Last year I started my way to becoming certified. I did 4 static line jumps from 3,000 in one day.
I wanted badly to do a jump with this club last year, but it got too windy on all of the days I could do it.
I’m considering taking the leap this weekend…
I jumped years ago - when Arrow Airport was still around (that dates me). We practiced landing by jumping off a picnic table, paid our $75, and went up for our jump. Static line, by myself (I don’t know that I’d like to do tandem). What a thrill!
The ride under the canopy is fantastic - I jumped on a calm April evening and I just floated so gently down to earth. The view was marvelous, and I somehow managed to avoid the trees, water and power lines in the vicinity when I came down. I’d highly recommend it!
I’ll be counter to the crowd… I fail to see a compelling reason to jump out of a perfectly good airplane. LOL
If you had flown coach recently, I imagine you could easily come up with a few hundred compelling reasons to jump from the plane.
True that. I’ve only flown first-class one time. If I could afford it, I’d do it every time. That was awesome.
Flying to me, today, seems to be what the cows feel like when they are hearded onto trucks or trains for their destination.
