As soon as I saw this headline this morning I thought, "Here come the fireworks!" Then I looked at the comments so far. They are remarkably subdued. Where is the righteous outrage?
With all due respect to Mr. Haltom, I doubt he stands a chance. It's all well and good to be a firm believer in the First and Second Amendments, but that won't get you far in a local political race.

See what your friends and neighbors have to say about this.
It’s tough to predict moral outrage.
You know, if we could elect both him AND Roger Yant, we could end up with a combination Pioneer Village/Lingerie and novelty boutique here in Lincoln.
Funny you say that. I was going to suggest a race between Haltom, Yant, and Weird Wally.
I’d consider giving him my vote. We can surmise that there are probably no city contract fiascos to worry about. Just because he peddles products that everyone wants to pretend they don’t want or use or need, etc., shouldn’t preclude him from letting his thoughts be heard. Stranger things have happened.
We seem to always be in favor of change and fresh blood and fresh ideas.
Fresh ideas are good, but first and second amendment rights rarely seem to be on the council’s table.
I hear that the First Lady has taken up the cause of the right bare arms…:)
make that the Right TO bare arms.

All in all, I’d say he could do as good a job as anyone. I am sure he’d stay abreast of the issues. There would be a certain vibe to the meetings if he were there. I am sure it would cause some to get their panties in a bunch, but he could probably discuss delicate manners as well as the next guy. It could be very revealing to have such a different personality on the council.
(I could go on, but I am afraid that I am about to veer out of PG material)
HA! Hilarious.
