Don't go to NebraskaSpending.com. Seriously. You'll spend way too long clicking around and looking at numbers.
Now I'm curious just how complete the data is. For example, is it really possible that we have a 23 month contract totaling $254,417.85 for "size 5 reg men's work boot"? How do you spend $250k on size 5 boots? Hopefully the description field isn't fully descriptive, or we have a whole bunch of Correctional Services employees with really small feet.

See what your friends and neighbors have to say about this.
I don’t remember a lot of size 5 male inmates at Tecumseh, but it could be possible. DCS doesn’t issue boots to employees. We had to buy them ourselves-which, if you get good ones, is pretty expensive. I had my mil issues so I was able to save there.
Mr. Wilson-
As to your comments concerning the Nebrsakaspending.com site: The descriptions of the items were given to us by the Nebraska Department of Administrative Services-Material Division. The contract in question would be a $254,427.85 uniform contract. The contracts also are an estimation of the amount that can be paid, not the actual amount paid.
We are trying to provide some transparency to state government, and provide information to the public that was not previously available.
Oh I totally understand, and I appreciate the transparency. Obviously you can’t list every detail in a simple table. (Well, not unless you were to link to the actual contracts, but that comes with its own problems.) I just think the notion of $250k worth of size 5 boots is funny. 😊
