Really? Isn’t this just a case of NIMBY and not a North/South Lincoln thing? Had this been proposed near 27th and Superior or in Fallbrook, etc. not one person would have protested? Really? I don’t buy that for a second. Give me a break, Mr. Widders.

Really. It IS a north/south thing. Just look at how different things are in those parts of town - totally opposite. I mean, Wal-Mart High vs. Von Maur High, sensible homes vs. McMansions, small-town feel vs. Omaha-like expanses. We’re just nicer in the North.

Oh brother. Explain to me how houses built in the area south of 27th and I-80 and in Fallbrook are more sensible than the same houses built in Vintage Heights or north of 27th and Yankee Hill Road. That’s right, when someone wanted to build a new Wal-Mart up north, there was no discussion and no disagreement by the neighbors. When someone wanted to bulldoze the golf course at 84th and Adams, no one said a word. It’s just all nice beautiful quiet homeowners in their sensible homes, who magically turn into monsters if they move south of O Street. My bad.

I thought Northstar High and Southwest High are virtually identical?

I’m going to lunch now in my sensible house south of Old Cheney, unless I get confused when I get there and think I’m in Omaha. Happens all the time.

Hmm….looking at my SOUTH Lincoln Neighborhood just off of 56th and Prescott I see homes averaging 40+ years old, tree lined streets, Union College, boutique stores and The Mill. No McMansions here….or am I not ‘South Lincoln’ enough? Can we give the generalizations a rest? Not all South Lincolnites live like feudal lords, even if some of us do have above average incomes for Lincoln.

However, I will soon be selling “I (heart) South Lincoln” and “I (heart) North Lincoln” t-shirts, in hopes of further widening the great divide that exists in our fair city.

That’s sarcasm, for those that need to have it spelled out for them.
