No clue - but the guy that owns the Gourlay building did say in his long letter to the LJS that the building on the other side of his would have the same structural issues that his did. In other words, tearing out Romantix was going to potentially weaken the shared wall with the Gourlay building. He claims that tearing his building down will weaken the wall of the building on the other side.

Maybe the city could tear out the whole block and make “temporary” surface parking. Or, they could overpay for the land, and then either sell it for a much lower price, or just never develop it. The city could build something there like a movie theater, then let it only stay in business for a fraction of its useful life and tear it down. Of course, since that block lies kitty-korner across from the Haymarket, Jon Camp cannot be involved in the discussions. If we wait until Buffington becomes mayor, she can use the profits from that sale to build the new beltways.

I jest. Surely none of the above could happen in Lincoln.

That would be even more depressing than Fletch’s scenario.

That would be kind of hysterical if he took credit for getting it done after all these weeks and months. Sadly, I don’t think there is a thing he could say or do right now that would make him look more foolish than his opponent.

He could suggest that they use the bricks from the burned-out buildings to pave the new beltways.

Just for the record, so I don’t sound like a bitter LJS poster, I love Lincoln. I have lived here for more than 25 years. I could live anywhere in the US I want to right now - I live in Lincoln because I *want* to, not because I have to.
