Competent to stand trial? Ha! Ricky Turco isn't even competent to participate in society, as proven by his latest run-in with the police. The judge set bond at $500,000, five times higher than what the County Attorney requested.
The Journal Star apparently got tired of policing the comments on Turco-related articles because they didn't allow comments about this most recent incident. That's probably smart of them.
You know, Ricky Turco is obviously a maroon. That's pretty hard to dispute. But he surely isn't the only such maroon in town, just the most infamous one right now. I shudder to think that there are plenty of other Turco clones out there. Ugh.

See what your friends and neighbors have to say about this.
It’s HIGH TIME that his bond was made rather large. Someone’s going to be INCREDIBLY stupid to post it now. He should just sit and sit and think about what he’s done. Stay in jail until ALL of his charges are cleared up ((Probably a year)) Hopefully he won’t be out anytime soon. Naomi, being his wife you really need to STOP whining about all the negative comments. You reap what you sow. You would be much better off dumping this piece of trash and getting on with your life before he screws THAT up too.
I would say by the comments I have read from her that he has already screwed her life up. We just need to put him in the chair so he can stop stealing oxygen from the rest of us!
When I grow up I wanna be just like him 😉
He’s NEVER going to see the chair…at least not on a Manslaughter charge anyway. But at the rate he’s going he’s not far from going too far. Let’s just hope that Naomi has enough sense and family support to get herself AND her child away from this guy. Oh, and where is the Child Welfare services in all of this???? They are certainly up the butts of folks that are at least TRYING to make a contribution to society. Why haven’t we heard ANYTHING about them investigating them???? Just a little food for thought.
Maybe she’s screwed his life up, too. I was eagerly awaiting her comments about how he’s a good guy, and just misunderstood, and that everyone should give him a break. You know what? Neal’s thoughts notwithstanding (I kid), I’m a good guy, but I’ve never gone on a demolition spree with 3 buddies and a set of golf clubs. This guy clearly has issues and will quite likely remain in jail long enough to complete his self-destruction without us needing the chair for him. I hope this finally keeps him off the streets.
Perhaps she has helped mess his life up as well. But…..SHE hasn’t gone out breaking into buildings and hasn’t been arrested 38 times. Now I’m certainly no angel and I have had my brushes with the law…....But I have NEVER been in THIS kind of trouble and I would never thumb my nose at the system like he is doing. The judge had the right idea. Setting the bond 5 times higher than the attorney asked for was probably done as much to keep him off the streets as it was for his safety. To continue to do the things he has been doing has only infuriated the general public. He might have thought that harm would come to him if he continued to be out n the streets.
After all, if you really look close at Lincoln, this IS an overgrown small town. And there are a lot of folks out there that wouldn’t hesitate to take matters into their own hands.
As for me???? Well, the gears of justice sometimes turn slow….but they do turn. I knew from his current AND past history it was only a matter of time and he would do himself in. The old saying goes…...“Give them enough rope and they’ll hang themselves” Perhaps this was the courts and the police departments motivation all along. Too bad it came with such a high price-tag.
From her comments, it sure doesn’t appear to me that his wife’s bulb burn any brighter than his. Sorry to say, but their kid doesn’t have much of a chance.
I feel sorry for his kid. Good god was that kid cursed when that child came into the world.
For the love of pete, someone call protective services!
I know that nobody’s seen this movie, but the whole deal reminds me of Run Ronnie Run.
Unfortunately, Children DON’T get to pick who their parents are. I still wonder why we have heard NOTHING about child services getting involved in a case like this. Forrest Gump said “Stupid is as Stupid does” but these two seem to be carrying that a bit TOO far!!!!
There’s ONE bright side to this right now…...He’s not out of jail as of this mornings news. Maybe whoever has been posting all of those bonds has finally decided that enough is enough. Where he is currently residing gives him PLENTY of time to ponder the fate that he has brought upon himself. What a place to be when you HOPEFULLY can’t sleep at night!!!!
The flip side to this is…..I know that we will be hearing from this case for a LONG, LONG time to come as it drags through the courts.
To Chief Cassidy: I see the news is reporting Turco’s 21 arrests in two years. Then you tell of some 60 people with over 200 arrests of their own. BUT, did they cause anyone’s death? Probably not. Turco makes the spotlight because of the downright nastiness of his crimes. Committing any crime is wrong, shoplifting is not comparable to manslaughter or the Lincoln High mess. You can’t compare Turco to others Chief. He is mentally challenged and needs help. It’s a shame that many hundreds of thousands of dollars will now be spent on him to “try” and correct him. Probably to no avail, he’s habitual. People like him love the “rush” that they get from doing things they “know” is wrong.
At least the judge did the right thing and set the bond high. I know his family can’t afford to bail him out this time. His wife has got to have spent most of her court settlement already. And raising one if not two kids (rumor) is not cheap.
People like Turco come and go. Its unfortunate someone will take his place sooner than later.
Chris: You are right that this guy probably needs more help than just getting arrested and put in jail, but the police have little to do with that. We need better systems in place (besides just “throw ‘em in jail”) to deal with people like this. There is no easy solution, unfortunately.
I still find it hard to comprehend this level of stupidity, though. You’d think he’d lay low for a little while, at least.
Hi Karin,
If he wasn’t married he’d have been a ward of the state a long time ago. Then he’d have probably been sent to a treatment facility at least a year and a half ago. For some reason when you marry, you become your spouse’s ward.
You’re right about the “throw ‘em in jail” issue. If he goes to Lincoln Correctional Center on West Van Dorn, or the Penitentiary he’ll get the bare minimum of “treatment”. As he’s not violent, I’d guess West Van Dorn.
If however, he is deemed to have some mental deficiency, then he’ll probably be sent somewhere where he MIGHT get treated and turned into a law abiding citizen. Or he could just fake being a “model” inmate no matter where he goes, get back out on the streets and start doing stupid things all over again.
Guess time will tell.
