I'm still wary about certain aspects of the Antelope Valley Project, but at least one big milestone is getting closer to reality: Assurity's new headquarters has been approved by the City Council. Assurity's building will be the first major new construction in the area. Now there are two new questions: Who will be the next business to join Assurity? And will an influx of development in Antelope Valley help or harm development efforts elsewhere in the city?

I go back and forth about the whole antelope valley thing. I was playing around in the property assessor’s map the other day and am sort of dumbfounded by how much the Antelope Valley project has bought up. One of the things I like about Lincoln is that you can live close to work in a decent house with a yard. I’m afraid if the downtown development gets to be too much, there will be only businesses down here, and condos that cost $450,000 (like the ones in the haymarket- yipes!).
The more I think about it, the less sure I am that a HUGE complex like assurity is a good fit for the location it is going in. Too late now, I guess.
I thought by the title you were going to predict more snowfall.
