Tough call, Lincolnites: scrap the old King's on South Street to make room for new development that includes an Advanced Auto Parts and a KFC; or stick to the original South Street redevelopment plan and wait for development that more closely fit the goals for the area?

See what your friends and neighbors have to say about this.
For what it’s worth, the redevelopment design standards are not a requirement if the developer chooses not to use TIF money.
I think development is better than empty run-down buildings. It’s not like it’s the true heart of the South Street corridor. Approve the plan, lean on the developer to build it and make it pretty so as to not stick out like a sore thumb. Of course, and Advanced Auto Parts will stick out like a sore thumb due to its paint scheme, but the Kings building sticks out too. I say build it!
What I want to know is where does Ray’s Luv Shop fit into the development scheme? (Best sign ever, by the way) And I am definitely all for not having rundown buildings making the rest of the area looking run down.
I say let Advanced Auto Parts build, but get them to do something with the South Street side of the building so it looks good from that side.
Foxspit speaks smartly on this issue. I concur. And replacing a crappy old KFC with a shiny new KFC is a good plan - just like the new one on N 84th replacing the greasepit dump at 73rd-ish and O.
