The Missus, Robbie, and I made it into 9 South Chargrill last night, but we didn't get seated. Their high chairs hadn't been delivered yet so we would have had to improvise with Robbie. There are some restaurants in which I would have been willing to wing it, but Robbie was a little cranky, there were a bunch of people in the restaurant, and we had no idea how quickly we would get our food and get out of there. I am the sort of parent who wants his kid to be able to adapt to unique situations, but not at the expense of other customers who just want to enjoy a nice meal. So we left and ate at Yia Yia's instead.
A couple quick reactions. First, 9 South is pretty small. Did I say small? I meant cozy. In a good way. Most tables were full last night at 6. Service looked like it might have been a little slow -- not atypical for a new, local joint in the first couple weeks after opening -- though that perception was based on pretty limited evidence. The menu is mostly meat-based with a few vegetarian items. Prices were mostly in the $10-$20 range, if I remember correctly. I have a paper version of the menu at home that I need to scan for you.
So that's strike 2 for the Wilsons at 9 South. We'll keep trying, though. If any of you make it there, please do report back.

doh. We drove by about 5:10 and saw peeps heading in there. It does look really “cozy”.
Do they have some lower priced items like burgers? We were hoping it would be a nice place to pick up a couple burgers to go sometime.
I made in in this evening about 8:00 - there were maybe 3 tables by then. I had the Rueben with fries and cole slaw, but I had intended to have the pulled pork with onion rings. Both the pork and onion rings were out. I hope that will work out once they get a handle on what moves best. The Rueben however, was really good. It had a good amount of meat, and a slightly smoky flavor. Not your traditional Rueben, it wasn’t overloaded with sauerkraut and cheese. The fries are waffle cut and lightly battered. Good slaw, too. Not the usual bucket-o-slaw that a lot of places get from Pegler, this was creamier and a bit sweeter, maybe made in-house. My wife (who was at a meeting) is jealous, but that just means I’ll get to go again soon. I did make one menu suggestion - I’d like to see someone in this town offer pepper rings (think onion rings but with sliced green pepper).

I’ve never heard of pepper rings. Are they common elsewhere?
I’ve only had them at a now-defunct bar & grill in Hastings, but hoping some enterprising non-corporate place will give them a try…
Haven’t ever had pepper rings either but had a new one the other day. Deep fried dill pickle. Wonderful.
