Having visited their website to figure out what plan they have, I noticed that they now offer 10 down 1 up for $49,90 a month so I may have to switch to that plan.  And for those who don’t know, Internet Nebraska just piggybacks off of Time Warner’s network. I even pay my bill to the cable company.

7 Mbps plan, 3.6 tested?  You’re getting shafted. 

What’s your total TWC bill? 

I pay $98 per month for Windstream.  That includes a 6 Mbps connection that is consistently in the 5.6 to 5.9 range and 384 up.

Funny you should mention that. This post actually began as sort of an “I’m thinking about switching to Internet Nebraska…” post.

I, too, am shocked that you’re getting 6.9 Mbps on a 7 Mbps plan. The advertised and actual speeds are very rarely that close.

These just-tested figures are in the same ballpark as all of the speed tests I’ve run in the last year or so.

Except for the price, I have no complaints about Road Runner

I usually get in 6k range during the evening.  I assume they must rate-limit during business hours.

Many things affect the speed of your internet connection.

But, since that info is provided by TWC, it’s kind of like asking President Bush or General Petraeus how the surge is working…

Anyhow, your computer, your network, your software, your house wiring, how many splitters you have added to your cable TV, etc. can all affect your speed.

TWC can remotely check the status of your modem and related signal parameters.  I’d bet they’d be happy to do it too.  In Lincoln: 421-0300.

That is in the middle of the day while peeps are using it, at night it jumps.  It is pretty awesome.

I really do not notice it feeling faster except for large file up and downloads.

Me and my bit torrent client want to stop by to, umm, visit you at work.

torrented fedora 9 DVD (3.3gb) yesterday and it took about 20 minutes.

Seriously I would poop myself if my internets were that fast.

This is perfect timing. I just left TWC and went to Windstream today (dear lord, what an ordeal that turned out to be). Sadly, I can’t seem to get the test to work. I’ve tried 2 browsers, and hunted for KC (can’t see a KC pyramid). I must be an idiot (Neal, don’t go there…).

Thanks. If I had seen that map, I could have found KC. I can’t see or find a way to the page with the map and all the pyramids. Go figure. This has been a day from hell since making the switcheroo.
