Does Lincoln have a Seinfeld-style "Soup Nazi"?
I think about this question whenever I drive past 27th and Randolph, home to the (in)famous M&N Sandwich Shop. I've never been there, but I've always heard that the service can be a bit ... gruff. I'll have to rely on the restaurant's regular patrons to let us know if that's accurate.
Are there any other restaurants in town that feature a Soup Nazi equivalent? I've tried my darndest to come up with one from among all the restaurants I visit -- which is quite a few, frankly -- but I've got bupkis. Back in high school and college in my Village Inn frequenting days there was a waitress at the Van Dorn VI with a delightfully sassy attitude, but I have no idea if she's still around or what her name was.
Help me out, Lincolnites. There have to be a few good candidates around town. Who's got one?

There is a manager at Amigos in Clocktower that we have called a “soup nazi”. She has warmed up to us over time, but early on she always acted like it was a real inconvenience to take an order and then when, inevitably some part of the order was wrong, you would almost be scared to bring it up to her.
I think you hit the nail on the head with the M&N;guy.
To this day, M&N;is the only place I’ve been yelled at while being the ONLY customer in the place. In Norm’s defense, I was trying to pay with a debit card, which he didn’t accept back then. He accepts them now. Actually, “tolerate” is probably a more accurate word than “accept.”
A few years ago, my brother and I would go to Tina’s for breakfast on Saturday morning just to see how grouchy one of the servers would be. We don’t go there much anymore, but I haven’t seen her the last couple of times we’ve been there. I think she was related to the owner somehow.
A friend of mine got yelled at at the gas station on 40th and A Street. The guy didn’t like him kicking the mud and snow from his wheel well.
When “East Meets West” was still in the food court at South Pointe, the guy in charge, who I presumed to be the owner, was kind of that way. I’d see him yell at people trying to sneak a refill with a cup from Arby’s, or a water glass. One time I went on a diet and cut rice out for several weeks. I eventually went back in, and he was kind of mad at me, and asked where I had been. I found that odd.
Did you know that he was coming?

Really…it is worth the trip. the Pastrami is best in two, no doubt. Triple Italian Combo is national award winner. This is one of Lincoln’s best that just suffers from not being “polished” But it is all part of the experience in myh book. It if lookied like a chipotle or whatever it would loose the unique feel. It is kind of like Mother India up in omaha on Leavenworth St, the building is rough looking but inside is hands down the best Indian food in Omaha.
Before Papilon disappeared from Meadowlane Shopping Center, the owner was kind of like this. He was always nice to me but I had heard from employees of other shops in the strip mall that he yelled loudly at his business partner a lot. After a time when I didn’t go there for a spell, he asked me where I had been. If I went to the Great Wall for takeout instead of his place, I parked so he wouldn’t see my pass by his place. Needless to say, now that the restaurant has been gone for over a year, my family and I miss it. We need another Greek/gyro takeout in that location.
