I have long been in love with this house in Near South. I have never been inside so I have no idea what the interior is like, but something about the outside really interests me. When The Missus and I were looking at houses, we looked at a few in Near South. That one was out of our price range (and not for sale), but we enjoyed walking by it anyway.
Which are your favorite houses in town?

From what I hear this is going to be Bo Pelini’s New house so it is my favorite. Funny trivia fact about it, Cosgrove lives next door.

But one that I would like to convert to a home after I hit the lottery is this one.
My favorite house is the Hansel and Gretel small house on the Southwest corner of 40th and Calvert. Love the way the little cottage sits back in the forest.
The stairs in back are scary. I like the tiny walkway from the front to back.
I hear it, at one time, was a brothel. Cool!
Also, if you look closely, you can see that it was a two-story building when it was first built, then they added two more stories.
I haven’t seen the back stairs, I’ll have to check that out.
The house you love was the grandest home on the Near South Parade of Homes a few years ago. It’s fantastic. Wood panelling, two formal floors and a third floor designed for actual living, including a great family room with pool table. Check it out if you ever have the chance!
You’d like to convert an old brothel into your “home?” Is there something you want to tell us there buddy?
This one, also in Near South, has always been my favorite:

An Italianate with a terribly romantic story behind it ... if I remember correctly, an elderly widow was living in a smaller home at the back of the same lot, traveled to Italy on vacation, fell in love with an Italian architect who moved to Lincoln with her and built her this home. I may not have the story right, it may just be fiction, but I like the romance of my version ...
there was one at around 74th and south that was a dome house. Anyone remember it?
It’s still there. It’s south of Van Dorn around 73rd.
That’s my favorite house in Lincoln. They sometimes give tours although i’ve never been on one.
Thanks. I have looked for it a few lately and never found it.
That house is on the historical registry & I believe it actually belonged to a lumberman. The woman who lives there now works with me, & I’m forwarding her this. It’s beautiful on the inside, & she knows a lot of the history! Maybe she’ll share it here?
Yeah, instant character, man! Besides, you gotta like the karma.
I’ve been in it once. Absolutely beautiful! I don’t remember much about it, other than it was breathtaking.
