Let Us Eat Pork

By: Mr. Wilson on August 6, 2007
The Capital City Ribfest is this Thursday thru Saturday, 11:00am to Midnight each day. I always like to hit Ribfest twice: once for a weekday lunch, and once for dinner. That way I can try more of the vendors. Would any of you like to meet for lunch on either Thursday or Friday? Which day works better?

I will most likely be going on Friday.  However, Ribfest lunch is a tradition within my department so I would be unavailable to join you.  If those plans change I will post here; a Lincolnite lunch sounds like a great idea.

My Dad is in town from Seattle that day, so it’s unlikely I can talk him into going. I think the heat will really sap his enthusiasm.  If that changes, however, I will be there.

I like the idea of getting together sometime though.

I would love to but my office is to far from downtown to get to ribfeast and back in an hour. :o(

OK, so it’s free to get in at lunchtime, right?

I’ve never been to ribfest. I’ve heard that it’s overpriced by friends (one is actually holding an anti-ribfest party this year) but I suppose if you don’t have to pay to get in, it wouldn’t be.

I could probably make Thurs or Fri, if others want to go. I figure I have to go at least once while in Lincoln, right?

Although I love ribs I am frightened by the lines, country music, and from what I hear outrageous prices.

Might have to check it out though.

Still I really need to make me some ribs here sometime soon.

The Mr. and I plan to be there both days; we’d love to enjoy delicious BBQ with you!  We plan to go early enough that the lines won’t be too long.  If they are really long we’ll hit whichever line is short.  It’s worked in the past 😊  We usually go more than once or twice so we’ll sample multiple places this weekend.

Don’t let the lines scare you. I’ve been a few times over the years and if you just pick a short line, it will move pretty steadily. Going early for lunch is a very good idea.

One year I was patiently waiting for some ribs at the Famous Dave’s booth (don’t think they have been there for a few years now) and it took them longer than expected (quite awhile, actually). We ended up with a free meal for the four of us. Sweet!
