Lason and Spa

lason spaWhat the ... ? Did the sign installers swap the L and the S? I've heard of a salon & spa, but "lason" isn't a word I've ever heard of. I assumed it was just a very public typo. It was bugging me enough that I did a little research. As it turns out, it is a new business called "Lason Spa", and they are having a ribbon cutting (PDF) on April 3, sponsored by the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce. Darn, not a typo. But what is a lason?

See what your friends and neighbors have to say about this.
Going to go out on a limb here and guess its someone’s last name…
Oh sure, go for the easy answer. Where’s your sense of adventure?
It sounds like something that would require a shot of penicillin.
Oooooh, a penicillin bar and spa!
dyslexia?
OK - I called. The “L” is for Lisa, one of the owners, and the “ason” is for Jason, without the J, and when it’s pronounced, it sounds kind of like “salon” so it’s also a play on words.
There you go.
pfffffffft sure actually find out the truth. That no fun. Lets keep the random speculation going.
I hear they are French and trying to convert us 😉
Thanks, Diane!
I know. What a poop I am. Goes with my job as a technical writer, and a previous life as a reporter - always trying to find out the facts.
I try to never let the facts get in the way of a good blog post. Or even a not-so-good blog post. Thanks for the fact checking! Note to would-be business owners - don’t choose a name that is too cute or requires explanation, or is hard to pronounce or spell. Just another free tip from your ol’ pal Fletch.
Here I was hoping for some sort of south Lincoln location for Iasan & Sebastian, the downtown salon.
(On the sign, Lason looks like Iason)
Lason and Spa is actually a very fabulous salon and spa. Lisa and Jason have done a great job, and will go back to the spa and Lisa until I can’t go anymore. Everyone should see what they are about, you won’t regret it!!!!
