I don't know where I've been hiding lately, but I completely spaced off the fact that Ribfest began yesterday and continues through Sunday. Perhaps my level of busyness of late is to blame. Or maybe it's the fact that I'm mostly pescatarian these days. No matter -- go get some bones this week outside Pershing Center.
If you take their word for this sort of thing, the folks behind Ground Zero rated Porky 'n' Beans #1 for the second straight year. In other words, expect them to have a heck of a line.
If paying a cover charge and standing out in the heat isn't your thing yet you still like ribs, then maybe you'll be interested in Buffmeat's Best Ribs in Lincoln. It's not a comprehensive list, but it ought to be enough to get you started.

I would love to add to my list, I wasn’t sure what other places to include. I intentionally left of Famous Dave’s, Texas Roadhouse and Skeeter Barnes.
But if there is BBQ to be had by a local owner, please let me know!!
Skeeter’s meets my definition of “local”, but your mileage may vary. Regardless, I’m curious where it would fit in on your list. I’ve had some to-die-for ribs at Skeeter’s, and I’ve had some meh, overcooked ribs there.
Oh! I just thought of a place you missed. Hit up Smokehouse Deli on the southeast corner of 48th and Highway 2. I’ve only been there twice (and the last time was a couple years ago), but it was excellent both times.
We did have Smokehouse on the list (love their smoke wings) but because they didn’t have a place to eat inside, I ruled it out at the last minute. We are going there on Tuesday for 12 wings for $6 over lunch!!! I’ll see if I can get a rib or two and throw it on my list.
I’ll give Skeeter Barnes a try again. I didn’t realize Parker’s had a new location either or I would have put them in the same category. I’ve had it when they were in Duffy’s on Friday’s over lunch.
