Halloween Events

By: Mr. Wilson on October 19, 2007
What are your favorite Halloween-related events around town? I haven't really been into Halloween for a few years, so I'm behind the times. A couple old reliables: Those are mostly events for young kids. Any to add to the list? What are the best events for older kids and adults?

New to your site…I like to look for the worst tasting candy I can find and give it to the kid’s who are too old to be out.

Mr. Wilson - I think Boo at the Zoo is a winner and that Robbie would enjoy it. It’s dark, and there are costumes, but nothing scary. I’ve taken my daughter since age 3, and my son is 18 months and he should fit right in. The Roca Berry Farm is also a good time - you can avoid the crowds and go during the day and it’s a good family outing. We’ve never done the mall trick or treat - seems like it would be easier - any one do it recently? How do you rate it?

We’re also doing the Spooktacular at Pioneers Park, methinks. Enjoy!

What is the Spooktacular at Pioneers Park?  First time I’ve heard of it, yet I don’t live all that far away.

On the blog of the Lincoln public library they talk about a new directory of “haunted places” across the nation. Including in Lincoln:

The hauntings identified for Lincoln, NE, include the famed Clara Mills ghost in Nebraska Wesleyan’s C.C. White building, the Hobbittsville House ghost, the ghost in the Old Captain’s Studio, the State Capitol Building ghost, ghosts in Lake Street Park and Robber’s Cave, and several rumored hauntings on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus.

There’s a good book you should read called “Ghosts of Lincoln” - not sure if it’s still in print or not, but I am sure Lee Booksellers could help anyone out that is interested in it.
