Governor Heineman’s Non-Response Response

By: Mr. Wilson on September 16, 2011
Well at least he said something. Governor Dave Heineman has responded to last week's child welfare system audit. Unfortunately, is response isn't particularly ... well, responsive. It boils down to: (a) there are problems; (b) we're going to fix them. Given that his response didn't come for a week after the State Auditor's report was released you'd think maybe he'd give Nebraskans some idea of how he's going to address the problems. The only indication Heineman gave of his intended direction is that he's not interested in de-privatizing. That's unsurprising. In other foster care news, last night's attendance at the outdoor concert to promote foster care at Christian Heritage was disappointingly low. Not that I am surprised. The weather was lousy. If you have so much as a passing interest in learning more about becoming a foster parent, please contact me. I'm happy to help introduce you to the realities of foster parenting -- both the good and the bad.
