I have to admit, I'm a bit of a Foley fanboy. But why not? He seems to be doing a nice job, and the fruits of his office's efforts are government accountability and taxpayer savings.
I'm bringing up Foley again because the Journal Star ran a feature on him recently. Check out the comments for a glimpse into what others are saying about him.
Frankly, it's nice to see a guy on the right wing encouraging more openness, more efficiency, and less spending. I don't think I could support Foley for certain other public offices, but as Auditor, he's doing just fine.
All this talk about the State Auditor's office makes me wonder: who audits the Auditor?

See what your friends and neighbors have to say about this.
With the amount of attention he draws to his audit reports, I think he’ll be out of that office fairly soon and will run for something else.
It is strange cuz I watched him in the legislature for years and well had an opinion of him, but now I kinda like him.
I love his hair and that he seems to be doing a pretty good job. Also he seems to be in the news often for actually doing his job, unlike another media hungry guy who refuses to do his job to score political points.
That’s the typical response when a Republican does his job.
Oh good, you’re back! You were quiet for a while. I was afraid you had taken your straw men and gone home.
“That
‘...straw men ...’—that’s the typical response to one of my posts here. Come on guys, think of something new for a change.
I think the name-calling here is childish, and am shocked when it comes from Mr. W. himself.
Sorry, let me expand on that. I don’t think that people on the right ridiculing those on the left, or vice versa, does anything to further the dialogue or bridge any gaps. I’m a guy on the right, for example, and I will use the example of Ann Coulter. I don’t really think she does any favors to the “right” when she attacks people the way she does. It makes us all look bad. I could come up with tons of examples, and I purposely chose to call out one of my own to try to keep this more civil. Not trying to rile up Mr. W. - I just don’t expect it from him on his blog. Peace.
He missed me, so it’s understandable that emotions are running high.
And you’ve attempted to deflect the criticism with the same response before too, Dave.
You call a spade a spade. You don’t start calling it a tangerine because it’s tired of being called a spade.
Was it the “straw man” thing? If so, I guess I don’t really classify that as name calling. It’s not a comment on the individual, but on his argument. And frank assessments of arguments are always welcome here.
If you disagree, though, please do drop me an e-mail so we can talk about it. This isn’t a situation where I intended to shock anyone.
I guess I’m confused—what argument was I making?
I really did. I was worried our resident pot-stirrer had left for good. Every blog needs somebody to fill that role, and as long as pot-stirrer doesn’t devolve into troll, everything’s golden.
OK, replace “argument” with “statement”.
