Yahya over at Holy Land Cuisine just told me he *may* convert Holy Land's original North 27th location into an Ethiopian/Southern Sudanese restaurant. This strikes me as being a good business move as it would be - to my knowledge - Lincoln's first restaurant exclusively offering such fare.

I LOVE CULTURE!!! I think this sounds good on paper… and my tastebuds are dancing, but seriously, this is the midwest… the general public couldn’t tell you what a lychee is aside from a falafel. LOL!

This is great news, especially if the *may* becomes *will*.
An Ethiopian restaurant would do well in Lincoln as I’ve been saying for years. It’s similar enough to Indian and Middle Eastern flavor-wise that it wouldn’t be a big reach. It adds another great vegetarian option, too.

I think a college town like Lincoln, with a decent sized African immigrant population would totally support an African restaurant. Sioux Falls, SD has three Ethiopian restaurants to choose from! So unfair!
That’s the best news I’ve heard in years….I LOVE Ethiopian food! It’s by far my favorite!
That said, though, even in larger, more food oriented cities (Chicago, New York, New Orleans etc.) that have Ethiopian (and when I visit them I NEVER skip the Ethiopian places)—those restaurants seem sadly half-empty even in the large markets.
I’d still give my left arm for one around here!

Seems like there are some Ethiopian food aficionados here.
What worries me is that if Holy Land goes under, I am guessing that the chances of his Ethiopian place getting started are pretty minimal. Thus, supporting the downtown Holy Land might be a good step if we want to see him expand into Ethiopian.
