Downtown Lincoln Gets a Grocery Store

By: Mr. Wilson on February 7, 2013
Mayor Chris Beutler just announced that Hoppe Brothers has been chosen to lead the redevelopment project as 21st and N. Their proposal includes retail, a grocery store, and low income housing. The Mayor is making the announcement right now, so more details will come out soon. EDIT: Here is the City's press release.

This will be a great use for that area, and residents of the core will greatly benefit. Great news.

This sounds fantastic! I especially like the mixed housing - it’s part of what makes this area of town great to live in, the variety of people. :D

I don’t live in the area, and likely would never use the grocery, but I think it’s a great addition to the city.

A Hy-Vee will put some pressure on Ideal Grocery and Market, only about 1/2 mile away.

Yep, a substantial amount of pressure. Although Ideal fills a slightly different niche than Hy-Vee.

Along this same vein, I wonder what the new Fallbrook Super Saver will do (pressure-wise) to the IGA at NW 48th and Huntington.
