Done Deal?

The talk over the past couple weeks regarding the future of the State Fair seems to have shifted. Its future in Lincoln appears less and less likely. I don't want the Fair to leave, but if I had to choose between the State Fair and "Innovation Park", I would pick the latter every time. And Grand Island -- the frontrunner for the Fair's new location -- isn't a terrible place for it to go. My question for you is this: Do you think Lincoln still has a realistic shot at keeping the Fair in town, or is its move out west all but inevitable at this point?

I didn’t realize, among other things:

1) How badly UNL wants a research park and a foothold to avoid UNO muscling in any further on its turf.

2) How the State Fair Board and Lancaster County officials would still be too incompetent to move past their late-90s feud.

3) How Governor Heineman will do anything to pander to 3rd District voters.

I’ve been to it twice, both times just to see concerts, in the 23 years I’ve lived here. I won’t shed a tear if it moves to Grand Island. I’ll just have less people with high license plate numbers taking up space on the roads (don’t yell, I came from 68 county myself).
