College Student: Deuel has “OBLIGATION to lose weight”

By: Mr. T on March 2, 2005
In a blunt, no mercy, editorial from a South Dakotan, SDSU student columnist Roxy Hammond minces no words with Pat: ..... Going home and slacking off is just plain insulting to the staff of McKennan, the people who spent the time reading his newspaper articles, and the people who funded his well-being. Responsibility, it's the name of the game- and it looks like Patrick Deuel has fouled out. Our research staff will follow this breaking story and bring you the latest updates...

It’s ironic how selfish Ms. Hammond’s “Patrick Deuel is selfish” rant is. Assuming Deuel didn’t ask for the community’s outpouring of support—it is highly likely the media sought him out, not the other way around—he owes them nothing. Well, “Thanks” would be nice. But saying that Deuel has an “obligation” to get healthy is absurd.

If Deuel wants to live a miserable life, so be it. What the hell do I care what his standard of living is? I love how Ms. Hammond calls him “less fortunate.” Ha! The man is incredibly uber-fortunate. Look at the size of his ass, for Pete’s sake! How many “less-fortunate” souls have the resources to pack on that kind of lard?

The only scam in all of this is that taxpayers supported Deuel’s rise to hugeness, and we continue to support his lazy ass today. But Deuel doesn’t owe us an apology for that. Heck, the government is giving him stuff, why should he turn it down? It’s free money!

The only obligation Deuel has is to live his life the way he sees fit. The only obligation we have is to stop funding his attempt to reach freak show status.
