Boys and Girls Together, Playing in the Street

By: Mr. Wilson on August 8, 2007
It's recess day! Who: You, your co-workers, your dog, and anybody else you can find. What: Recess! When: Noon today Where: 14th and Q, in the former Star Ship 9 location Why: Who needs a reason for recess? Come one come all to the First Annual (Monthly? Weekly? Daily?) Lincolnite Recess Extravaganza! Come on out to 14th and Q and have a ball (or a Frisbee) with a bunch of goofy folks from all across Lincoln. Meet Lincolnite regulars like Karin and beerokid while reliving the glory days of your youth. Don't want to get all sweaty? That's ok, come and blow bubbles or draw with sidewalk chalk. Also, don't forget lunch at Ribfest tomorrow at noon. See you there! (Mega bonus points if anybody can identify the reference in the title of this post.)

See what your friends and neighbors have to say about this.

The asphalt should be really clean after that storm.  They say 88 for a high today, doubt it will get there by noon.

Should be a perfect day for recess.

Mick Jagger and David Bowie?

As long as it’s not pouring it’ll be great.

*looks out window*

Stupid rain.

I think BorK got the reference. Good call!

Yeah, STUPID RAIN!  :(  I slept in, lulled back to sleep by the pitter-patter of raindrops, after having been up to feed the cat.

I brought my chalk anyway… Hope the sky is done falling by noon.

If not this week, maybe next Wed. I certainly wouldn’t object to a weekly outing. 😊

Mick Jagger and David Bowie?

Hmm, not the reference I was going for. Mine is pretty obscure. I think you have to be a fan of 70’s horn bands to have a shot at it.

a Chicago reference? How many other 70’s horn bands were there? LOL I can enver get enough 25 or 6 to 4, and Saturday in The Park - I think it was the Fourth of July

What do we think, folks? Are we still on?

I am in.  Not raining.  Chalk might get a bit messy.

I’m in. Bringing my umbrella just in case…

Sheesh, I thought it was still raining. My window is covered in condensation so from my chair it looks miserable outside. I just stepped out, and it’s not bad at all. Playtime in 25!

I wish Mrs. Gengrich would let us out of homeroom early so we could get more play time 😉

I think the pics and vid are gonna be well covered.

You all look like you’re having so much fun!  I’m sorry I can’t join you.  Please do it again so I can try to be there.  ...and post the pictures (I saw someone with a camera).

What a blast!  Thanks for organizing this.  😊

I counted 10 people in attendance, and 6 cameras in use.  For those using Flickr, remember to tag your photos with lincolnrecess.  See you next time!

Aww, we had just left. Sarah and I had meetings at 1. (what fun!)

We will definitely do this again, though.

I’ll have my pics (well, mostly Geoff’s pics, but taken with my camera) up tonight.
