Construction has started on the southeast corner of 14th and Q for a coffee shop of some sort (according to one of the construction guys), just a few meters west of Amigos. Anyone know what chain this will be? (if it is a chain)

That’s quite the bizarre project they have going on there. The place is in a strange spot; it seems a little close to the street. Oh well, you figure it’s going in there to make the weekend-night scene a little less dangerous there.

T, the shop’s building permit is in the name of the folks who own Wilderness Perk near Southwest High School.

For what it’s worth, Wilderness Perk is a nice coffee shop. Laid back, friendly service and not too tragically hip, as some coffee shops are wont. Plus they play Miles Davis a lot, so they get extra marks for that. If they can duplicate that vibe at 14th and Q, they’ll do well.

Anyone know if Wilderness Perk still offers free internet access? I do wish their coffee were a little bolder/stronger, whatever the proper term is.

Last time I was there (almost a couple of months ago I suspect) there was still free WiFi.

Hopefully they can make a decent espresso, Lincoln still does not have a shop that can. See David Schomer’s book for the proper techniques at http://www.espressovivace.com/

BTW, as reported this week in the J-S, the coffee shop is going to be owned/operated by Amigos and is yet to be named.

Hmm, interesting. So perhaps the Wilderness Perk connection I was told about was incorrect? It seemed like solid intel. Or are those folks still involved?
