Topics to Talk About

By: Mr. Wilson on June 13, 2007
Hmph, no time to write this morning. I'm on my way to an all-day workshop. Maybe I'll have time to post something between sessions. We'll see. Anyway, here are some topics you can talk about while I'm away: Have fun!

See what your friends and neighbors have to say about this.

How about from the follow-up file…

The fire at the Midway restaurant.
Driving on Highway 2 with the trucks on the right (love it!).

* Evil ice cream men (and women): I always thought the ice cream drivers looked suspicious.  Not Borat-with-a-grizzly-bear-in-the-back suspicious, but definitely shady looking.

* Athletes as role models. I understand them being heroes to young people, but role models?  That’s a tag that many don’t want or deserve.

* Foxspit user name ... it has some rationale behind it but I’ll wait to see the theories before I give it up.

* Weather: I think we needed the rain, by the looks of my yard.

Thought I remembered a place called Fox Spit on Whidbey Island in the Puget Sound.  Googled it and there it was…. Are you from Mukilteo?

While Duffman’s scenario is plausible (I hear fox tastes just like chicken), Moses hit the nail on the head. The user name refers to Fox Spit near Langley, WA, on Whidbey Island.

being a ice cream truck is not the most bestest job I bet.  Prob a little better than min wage.  you are not gonna get the cream of the crop members of society.

I think it was rather rude for those unfortunate folks names to be smeared in the LJS.

No, you’re lying to save yourself the embarrassment. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Baby Jessica falling in a well, you fell into an imaginary hole named the Faux Pit. When you called for help, your French failed you in the panic, and it sounded like you said you were in the “Fox spit.” Your friends all laughed and the nickname stuck.

The jig is up!  Neal has exposed me for the fraud that I am, so I say faux it! Color me embarrassed.

One of my longest term friends ( it is a woman and she wouldn’t like me to use the term oldest ) lives on Camano Island looking across the sound at Whidbey.

It’s beautiful out there and it’s been far too long since I’ve been there.

I’ve been craving Ivar’s fish and chips from the takeout window at Mukilteo. Maybe I’ll put some salmon on the smoker this weekend.

I’ve probably spied on your friend from across the passage with my dad’s spotting scope.  Well, not spied.  More like looking at her porch light and the beach in front of her house.

Hey Foxspit my folks live in that area and I didn’t even know that! Can’t wait til crabbing season starts again this fall. Then its time to visit the parents. And that will include a few stops by the Ivar’s at Mukilteo landing too.

This is my friend’s website. The picture on the home page may make you want to get on that plane tomorrow.  I grew up out there and the smoking is just not the same if you don’t use Alder Wood…............Alder smoked Halibut makes my toes curl.

Mr. T. My dad lives there and I’ve been there to visit a few times.  I can see why he likes it there, I fell in love with the place on my first visit.  When does crabbing season start there?  I may have to schedule a visit.

I’ve never had the alderwood smoked halibut, but if it makes your toes curl Moses, that’s good enough for me.

Beautiful Web site, and music!  I love the arts scene on the island.  Makes me want to live there.

I don’t know about Washington, but in Oregon crabbing is usually best in the winter months.  The Male crab molts it’s shell in the late summer and it takes several months to fill out the new one.  That is why they say stay away from crab in the months without “Rs”.

According to WA state rules, this year it looks like the majority of areas will be open as early as July 4 this year.

My folks live in Oak Harbor to the north. I’ll definitely plan a trip back sometime late in the summer. I also like the Penn Cove mussels, though I have to admit that I think east coast steamed mussels are better.

Ah! Oak Harbor is nice, my dad goes there to shop sometimes. We drove by Penn Cove last time I was there.  I have an airline voucher to use and I’ll travel as soon as I can find a cheap flight.  Late summer sounds like a good time to go.  If you find a cheap fare, let me know.
