State of Evolution

By: Mr. Wilson on June 3, 2008
I am a little ashamed to admit that I still haven't been to the new State Theatre. I have had every intention of stopping by. But y'know, this whole kid thing really changes a guy's entertainment options. Showing second-run movies hasn't proved lucrative for the State, so they're switching gears a bit. The theater will be different things on different days, ranging from a video gamer's paradise, to a dance club, to a Husker game day headquarters. I hope the new changes go well for them. Have you been to the State? Will you plan to go now that they're making these changes?

I saw Domestica play there.  I had not been in the place since it actually was a movie theater back in the day.  Their sound system is pretty cool.

I went a couple times when they first opened.  It’s a fun date place.  They had terrible pizza though.

I haven’t been back since last summer since the beer was so expensive and the food was bad.  I’d heard both had improved but it was too little too late for me.

They are playing Nebraska made Horror films on Wednesday as a $5 all you can eat block!  NIFP’s own Pete Lipins directed KILLER, which shows at 7PM.  Dan Iske’s THE WRETCHED and DeadLantern’s THE GRAND HORROR also have spoken at Nebraska Independent Film Projects.  Kudos to the State management!
