Here's my idea: a noodle restaurant that is half Subway, half HuHot. You pick your noodle, your meat, your veggies, and your sauce. (Or you choose from a pre-set combination.) It all gets mixed together on a hot plate or in a wok or something, and it is served up hot and fresh mere moments later. I figure a meal should cost between $4 and $7. Put it Downtown and I'd eat there twice a week.

Sorry, I should have been clearer: I want this restaurant to be fast food. In and out in five minutes or less.
A friend of mine once remarked that he’d love nothing more than to see a combination pub/waffle house in downtown Lincoln.
One thing we don’t have in Lincoln that I’m a little surprised by…a Waffle House. On your way down to Kansas City, when you stopped in Platte City you’ve seen the Waffle House. (and don’t tell me you’ve driven down to KC and NOT stopped in Platte City. I seriously think that it’s not possible not to stop there.) Anyway. 24 hour Waffle House in a college town? That makes sense to me.
Ah, the old Awful House. I’m thankful Lincoln doesn’t have one of those.
What I wish downtown Lincoln had was a Steak Escape (or Chartreuse Caboose for you Lincoln dining purists).
I miss the good old days when you could pick up a Philly Cheesteak on your way to Buck Beltzer Stadium then chow down while watching the Huskers play ball.
I too am surprised that there isn’t a Waffle House in Lincoln, since Lincolnites seem to love that sort of stuff. Waffles, pancakes, french toast (smothered with butter, cream and syrup of course)...I used to like that stuff when I was a kid. Now, I can’t even stand the thought of that sort of sweet, heavy goo. Its like a bomb in my stomach. No thanks!
None of you steal this idea, I already have documented proof that I own it. Some day I’m going to open a Dairy Queen with a liquor license. Just imagine… Stoli blue raspberry slushies, Kahlua Snickers Supreme Blizzards… I will become a very rich man.
My friends and I have often talked about how we’d love to see a combo ice cream/bar venue downtown.
But, as the liquor comissioner has said he won’t allow any more liquor licenses downtown, it’s a no go. bummer.
Never say never, Karin. All you need is the right lawyer. Kent Seacrest or Mark Hunzeker seem to have the right mojo for getting things done.
