Live Blogging on Sunday?

By: Mr. Wilson on January 4, 2007
A family of seven with lots of love but very little space in their house and who, as a result, have been living separately for years, will finally be reunited.
That's the description of this Sunday's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition broadcast featuring the Fullerton-Machacek family from Lincoln. I'm thinking about live-blogging* the show. I've never done live-blogging before, but it could be fun, and this would be a perfect time to try it out. Would anybody join in? * I'm not sure if it would be easier to post live updates here in the blog (where non-registered people can post comments) or in the forum (where only registered members can post). It's possible that instead of live-blogging we'll actually be "live-foruming", but that lacks a certain je ne sais quois.

I know I’m being petty, but I can’t help but find our city’s story much less inspiring than previous episodes of the show.  I’ll still watch, but I can’t help but think we could have found better candidates for the makeover.

I hope I eat my words after seeing the show.

The challenge with live blogging EM however is (and I have only seen it 3-4 times in my life) that it is one of the most formulae “reality” shows out there. All reality shows are scripted and over produced (unless they are 100% live) but in addition to that the EM-type of genre typically follows a very predictable story arc: Poor family, EM people come in and save the day, corporations/business entities give out scholarships as part of their PR campaign, locals cheer, family now happy.

Don’t get me wrong I’m happy for this family (or families). I just think its going to be a challenge to live blog this one. I look forward to seeing what you come up with. I’ll try and tune in this Sunday as well.
