The Lincoln Fire Department gets picked on quite a bit, often for good reason. So it is good to see that LFD's ambulance service is breaking even this year. Compare that to last year's $1 million in the red. Not that that gives us reason to pop out the champagne; after all, "breaking even" isn't exactly what we were promised when the City yanked ambulance service from the private sector's hands six years ago.
Let's hope this is the start of a positive trend.

Maybe someone should tell LFD that there are collection agencies out there and many of them are quite good. Yes, they charge a percentage on what they collect, but at least they would be collecting some of that (ambulance) money. Something is better than nothing.
