Lazlo’s Expands; Plus, a New South Street Diner

By: Mr. Wilson on April 19, 2007
For those of you who don't already know, Lazlo's in the Haymarket has completed its expansion into the former Fireworks location. I didn't get a chance to ask our server what will become of the old Lazlo's space, but I miss it already. The new space lacks the atmosphere of the old, in much the same way that the south Lazlo's lacks the atmosphere of the Haymarket location. Bummer. In other restaurant news, I noticed that a new restaurant is taking shape at 9th and South Streets on the northwest corner. It appeared to be a diner of some sort, which is a good fit for the neighborhood. If anybody happens to notice when it opens, please let us know.

that tiny little bldg that has been a new auto sales place every month?  That could be pretty cool.

I live pert near it and will check it out.  Saw they were doing something.

The sign calls it a The Ninth Street Char Grill, or something like that.

Not that any of you like the ‘burbs, but there is a new Dino’s “Southest Grille” or “Eastside Grille” coming to the new strip at 84th and Van Dorn, west of LBL. You know, in case anyone gets out of downtown. You know, ever.

Is that strip mall finally opening? Sheesh, seems like that thing has been under construction for years. Not that I would ever leave Downtown to go there, mind you 😊

Mr. W, you are correct - a long time in coming. Still being painted. The only sign for a new tenant is “Dino’s”, and it doesn’t appear close to opening. I wondered if it had any legacy to the old Southside Grille that was in the former Julio’s spot on South 48th.
