Hop On the Xpress

image I’m not quite sure if this counts as a “rumor” or just plain “news”, but here goes: I was at the Kurry Xpress in Omaha (108th and Q street) the other day, and had an exceptionally good meal of Lamb Vindaloo with garlic and butter naan (leftover garlic naan pictured above). I was chatting with the owner after the meal, and I told him that they should consider opening a restaurant in Lincoln. His reply was (and I am trying to quote as accurately as possible): “We’ll be in Lincoln in a month or two. We took a look at three or four locations already, and we’ll be opening one in Lincoln soon.” Ladies and gentlemen, if this is true then it is great news. Kurry Xpress is a super casual Indian restaurant which serves excellent food at very reasonable prices. The breads are fabulous and the curries are definitely hot! You can check out some reviews on Yelp and UrbanSpoon, as well as the OWH review. All I can say is, if you like this kind of food then check these guys out. This is one crazy train headed towards Indian food nirvana, and I am definitely on board.

Doing a little happy dance in my chair. I hope it’s downtown! I’ve been wishing for a fast cheap indian place for years.

Man, you said you had good restaurant news but I figured it was something boring like PF Chang’s. This is fantastic! I’m very curious to see the type of location they select.

Nirak - I too hope it comes downtown just because I live and work in the area. However I wonder if the retail rent price of the DT area may drive them away. I could see them doing very well in other parts of town.

I should note, even though its “kurry xpress” there really isn’t a whole lot about the joint that is fast. When I’ve been there it usually takes about 20 minutes from time of order to actually being served. I don’t mind the wait time though because its just excellent, fresh food.
