Get Your Hookah On

By: Mr. Wilson on July 2, 2008
Mr. T reports that Holyland Cuisine's downtown location is open. He and I are going to try to hit it for lunch soon. Let me know if you beat me to it.

We decided to try it today. The food was good (I had the small sampler) but it was lacking the lettuce, pickles, etc. that were in the photo. Also, some of the meat was a bit dry. (The guy told us one piece of kitchen equipment was broken so that may have been part of the problem there.)

Service speed was reasonable but as more people showed up (we got there at 11:30 and by 12:10 it was crowded) the speed seemed to slow down a bit. I think they’re short one person at least and the guy again admitted that since this is only their second day open they’re still trying to estimate the size of the lunch crowd so as to be able to prep some of the food in advance.

The price varied. Some of the $5.00 items were more than I expected and seemed a good value while my sampler plate seemed a bit high at $9.95.

No, the outdoor seating isn’t available yet, and neither is the hookah bar. BTW: The rails went up almost two months ago not just last week.

I walked in there with two coworkers right around 12:10; given the line + people sitting at tables with no food, we turned around and decided to try it another day.

Also, I’m an idiot…given the number of times I’ve walked around those rails this summer, I have no excuse to claim they’re a recent addition. 😉
