We are trying to sell our house now and the market is a little slow.  I’ve seen more sold signs lately but, unfortunately, not on our home.  It’s been on the market about 45 days.

There are about 2,000 homes on the market right now.  That’s a lot.  Homes are selling for an average of around $135,000 and they are averaging around 60 days on market.

Most frustrating to me is that we just don’t have a lot of people coming through the house.

Yes, I’ve noticed it all over town. And it’s not only ‘for sale’ signs. The rental market is glutted, also. It’s a renters’ and buyers’ market definitely. Too bad I’m trying to find good renters for my duplex!!

My wife and I just did 121,000 near Union College. the basement is finished but not assessed since its not ‘living space’. Umm…okay. Im not going to complain-keeps my taxes down. Im just glad to get out of Dodge City down here where the prostitutes come out at dusk. Ive got kids that don’t go outside because of the random people asking for money and the cars that come and go from our neighbors all the time day and night.

I should qualify my statement, Gary-Dodge City is my nickname for the neighborhood I live in in Lincoln-the ‘notorious’ 12th and F street corner! Where the ladies come out to wait for their brothers to pick them up for church at all hours-because you can never be too religious.

Ah!  My mistake.

I drive through your neighborhood after work and it’s always an adventure to drive south on 11th Street.  About 80 percent of the time you have to come to a stop for cars that pull out in front of your then drive like they are in a parade or people who just saunter across the street, intentionally slowing down to make you stop.  Bizarre.

Yeah. My wife almost got T-boned by some yahoo on 11th scooting across the street when my wife didnt have a stop sign. I can’t wait to move. I love the neighborhood-just not some of the people.

There’s a beautiful house on 28th and R street that has been on the market forever. It has moved from 127,000 to 107,000. I would buy it if I could, at least judging from the pics, because it’s gorgeous and has lots of room.

It’s really too bad that people would rather spend that much one one of the shoddy construction Celebrity Homes (My parents bought one of those once, and in the winter, you could feel the wind blowing through) than a century old house. I can understand, though. R street is pretty busy.

The cheap houses around here seem to go pretty quick…. another landlord to make superficial fix ups, rent it for as long as they can, cover up the major problems, and then ditch it.

Karin - I live on R St. 28th and R isn’t TTown, it’s Hartley! 😊 TTown is west of 27th St.

I’ve heard that one of the reasons that 2800 R St house hasn’t sold is that it’s got an abandoned, boarded up house very close by. That makes the neighborhood look horrible. Houses further east along R St have sold pretty quickly, having nicer houses near them. My neighbor across the street sold her house, for her asking price, in about 3 weeks.

I hope R St will be less busy when the O St project is finished.
