Drive-by

By: Mr. Wilson on December 11, 2006
I sure hope the fact that the bus drove right by me without stopping this morning isn't a harbinger of things to come for the rest of the day. If I would have had a raw egg, I would have chucked it at the side of the bus as it drove by. Grrrr.

Is it me or are the bus drivers for Star Tran getting worse?  They act like the own the road and will pull out in front of you without even using their blinker. Or they’ll stop but not turn on their flashers, so you’re stuck behind them by the time you realize they aren’t planning to pull back out into traffic.

Q Street downtown is pretty treacherous but it’s not the only place I’ve encountered problems.

I give them plenty of room and typically I’ll assume they are going to cross lanes on Q Street, but there are times when they just aren’t paying attention.

That’s only happened to me once. Granted, I wasn’t at an actual bus stop, but then, I (and the three people that usually board at the same time)  never are.

I walked today, and was pretty warm by the time I got to work.

A happier bus related story:

Today, someone bought donuts for the #10 bus.

I’m always surprised at how happy the people on that bus are. If I miss it and get the #27 instead, it’s not nearly as jovial.

It’s neat how many informal relationships form on the bus, isn’t it? I don’t think I’ve ever had donuts, but I have had cookies a few times. Hmm, maybe it’s just about my turn…
