My my, you sure have been in a swearing mood lately!
You’re the legal scholar here—it seems to me Congress doesn’t have the legal authority to do what it is doing in the Terry Schiavo case. Some members of Congress are very aware of that (and some who realize it don’t give a crap). What do you think the federal courts will do with this mess if/when it reaches them? The judge in Florida basically told Congress to go fly a kite when the House issued its subpoena to Terry Schiavo. Does that judge have the legal authority to overrule Congress?
The whole situation is so sad. We—that is, we Americans—could be having a rational debate about living wills, the ups and downs of pulling the plug on persons in vegetative states, and similar important topics. Instead, we’re embroiled in a media- and Congress-driven irrationalityfest in which ad hominems are fair game, and a human being on the brink of life and death has been forced into celebrity. Ugh.

I think its just a case of politician’s jumping over each other to appeal to the “family values” voters. Legally, this is a state case and it should have ended with the Florida courts. Whatever federal magistrate of district court judge(s) gets this case will laugh their ass off.
DeLay and company are not only an assholes for trying to get political capital out of this poor family’s situation, but hypocrites for advocating federal government intervention.
