The article you linked to failed to mention the satirical nature of Rush’s broadcast. Everything was taken literally, which was not the intention. But I can see how it’s convenient to blast Rush over this, rather than discuss the underlying issue of the new show.

Its one thing to cut some slack for someone who may be trying to satirize the existence of racial stereotypes and those who believe them (even when the satirizing fails). Given Rush’s history, however (and I have listened to his show many times before), I doubt those were his intentions.
In anycase, if CBS goes ahead with this as planned, ratings will go sky high. I can imagine the water cooler talk now. My guess is that they probably have completed the entire show already and that the, uh, “battle of the races” will somehow get played down after a few episodes.
But maybe this will be a trend. The next season can be a jew v. muslim v. christian thing.
