Nice, cool sleeping weather

One great thing about fall - excellent sleeping weather. A sleeping environment that is too warm makes for a poor night’s sleep for me. These past few days have been miserable. Sunday night - slept from 10pm to 3:30am. Monday night - slept from 10pm to 3:30am (again). Last night - slept from 3am to 5:30am (!), then drove all the way out to Kearney and back today on business. I need a solid 8 hours tonight and the cooler weather should definitely help.

By way of background, chronic insomnia has been a life long thing for me which started in college and got pretty bad in my early 20s. Although its gotten worse, I think my coping with it has gotten better. I can go one night easily on 4 hours of sleep or less, and two nights is not preferred but I can still manage quite well. Three nights in a row is when things start getting a little blurry. Four consecutive nights with 4 hours or less of sleep a night is just plain unpleasant. Maybe I’ll pass out as soon as “Lost” is over.

Insomnia, eh? That’s no good. I often have the opposite problem. No, I’m not gloating. It really can be a problem.

At least now I understand why you occasionally have that glazed-as-a-donut look. I just figured it was all of those, uhh, “herbs” you like to take.
